Windows 10 Tech Preview for Phones
Microsoft rolled out its technical preview of Windows 10 for phones last week and while, at the time of this writing, the only Lumia phones capable of running it are low to mid-range Lumia phones which include: Lumia 630, Lumia 635, Lumia 636, Lumia 638, Lumia 730, and Lumia 830. Do keep in mind that this first version does have several bugs and stability issues, depending on the model of phone. The good news is if you find that it’s too buggy for your taste, you can roll back to Windows 8.1. To do so you need to download the Windows Phone Recovery Tool (direct link) to your PC, connect your phone, and follow the on-screen instructions.
If you want to test out Windows 10 tech preview on PCs or for the phone, you will need to signup for the Windows Insider Program. The process is simple and if you want to, read: How to Install the Windows 10 Technical Preview for phones. So far I’ve had good luck with this version, but I have read plenty of rumblings from people who have tried it out on other Lumia models, and just installing the preview is a headache. Microsoft did say in its Blogging Windows post that this preview will be available to higher-end phones like the Lumia 930 and 1520 soon. In its post, the company says: Have you installed Windows 10 preview on your Windows Phone yet? How has your experience been so far? Leave a comment below and tell us about it. Also, remember that when everything is ready, Windows 10 will be running on phones, PCs and tablets, and in the living room with Xbox One. If you just can’t stand it at all, it’s nice they allow you to roll back to 8.1.1 I have to say, it’s running quite nicely on my Lumia 635, and the UI actually has a lot more zip than 8.1.1 — I hope it stays that way (knocking on wood) Comment Name * Email *
